GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi who graced the occasion, once again thanked the University of Ghana for accepting to collaborate with the GFA in this endeavor.

He further reiterated the GFA’s commitment to ensure that all medical staff of football clubs are qualified and have received the requisite training to ensure longer careers for players.

“The journey which has led to what we are witnessing today started with the realization that our Masseurs played key roles in our various teams both at clubs and National levels.

“The game of football has become extremely scientific hence the need for Ghana football to also strategically place ourselves.

“We therefore needed to take the necessary steps to ensure our Masseurs go through a formal training since most of them learnt the practice on the job”, the GFA President stated at the graduation ceremony.

He called on the graduands to effectively cooperate with their coaches and players to ensure that what they have learnt will be put to good use.

Mr. Nyantakyi therefore called on club owners and managers to support the team masseurs with the necessary logistics to enable them do their work.

He further announced that in line with satisfying the Club Licensing requirements, this certificate will become one of the basic requirements before anybody is engaged as Masseur by the GFA or any club.

“The GFA encourages continuous professional education and development for all our Technical Staff and we are ready to continue to support this training programme and other new initiatives”, he added.

Dean of the School Biomedical and Allied Health Sciences (SBAHS), Prof. Patrick Ayeh-Kumi thanked the GFA for its initiative and called for more collaboration in the area of Medicine and Sports Science.
