2-goal hero Ibrahimovic: Man Utd cup win was ‘team effort’

Published on: 27 February 2017

Zlatan Ibrahimovic preferred to share the limelight of Sunday's EFL Cup triumph with his teammates.

The Swedish striker scored a match-winning brace as the Red Devils defeated Southampton 3-2 at Wembley in a Man of the Match performance.

But Zlatan, who scored a lovely opening free-kick and an 87th minute headed winner, insisted it was an overall team performance which landed the club their fifth League Cup.

"It was nice. It was very nice," he said on Sky Sports.

"They came back to 2-2 and we looked a bit tired, but then I got the chance and I scored.

"It was a fantastic cross from [Ander] Herrera. This is a team effort, it's not individual."
