2014 World Cup: Afriyie starts dreaming about call-up possibility

Ghana midfielder Afriyie Acquah insists he’s done enough to merit a place in the Black Stars ahead of the World Cup, just three days before Kwesi Appiah names his provisional squad for the tournament in Brazil.

The 22-year-old has started dreaming about making the country’s World Cup squad following his stellar performances for Parma.

Acquah has become an important piece for the Italian side this season where he has featured consistently and with just three days before Kwesi Appiah names his initial 30-man squad, the man has started dreaming about that possibility.

The hype surrounding the former Palermo star has been immense and he feels it’s time his hard work pays off.

“I am sure that every player dreams of playing at that level. I hope I can get a look in from the Ghana technical team. In my opinion, I have worked hard enough to merit one,” he said

“Ghana has a lot of good players so I do not think it is automatic for me to expect a call up.

“ If it happens, I will be so excited; it is does not happen, I will keep working harder and hope some day, I get what I desire.

I understand life and football better now and I know anything can happen at any time”.

Although a youngster, he can look back at having played four seasons in Europe.

He joined Italian club Palermo in the summer of 2010 and has gone on to play for Parma and TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.
