Injured Ghana defender Jerry Akaminko hopes to return to the pitch quicker-than-expected.

The 26-year-old has undergone a successful operation on his ankle after he suffered the injury during the international friendly defeat against the Netherlands two weeks ago.

The Eski?ehirspor strong centre-back has been painfully ruled of the World Cup as he is estimated to be out for at least three months.

But the Turkish-based defender is confident he will return to the pitch a much-stronger player and quicker than required.

“God knows best. Everything happen for a reason and so I’m not perturbed at all,” he said

“I will return soon. I believe I will not be sidelined for too long.

"For now I don’t want to disclose how long it will take for me to be fully fit.

"I’m in consultation with my doctors and at the right time, I will let my fans know how long I will stay at home.”

Akaminko has been a pillar for the Africans in recent times and was expected to be a key player for the side until he suffered the late, late setback.
