On-fire Ghana attacker David Accam is happy to gatecrash Ghana's provisional squad for the 2014 World Cup and is ready to fight for a place in the final 23-man squad.

The 23-year-old was named by Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah in a 26-man squad to justify themselves for 23 places available for Brazil on Monday afternoon and the Helsingborg talisman is grateful for his calling but insists he will fight for his place in the squad.

"It's amazing to be called back into the national. I'm happy for that and I'm coming to give my best and work hard to make the team," he told GHANAsoccernet.com exclusively.

The Helsingborg IF ace is among 18 FIFA World Cup debutants named in the Ghana squad on Monday and must fight to secure a berth in the final team for Rio.

Accam, whose versatility in attack allows him to play on either sides of the wings and also leads the attack, has bagged 6 league goals for Helsingborg in the Swedish Allsvenskan and 6 more goals to propel the REDs to the final of the Swedish FA Cup.

His strike on Monday night took his season's tally to 12 in 13 outings and he is thrilled with his performance on the day he was named in Ghana's squad.

"It's amazing to get the call-up from Ghana and score the winning goal for my team today. That makes it even special," he added in a chat with GHANAsoccernet.com.
