2014 World Cup: Dropped Mahatma Otoo rallies support for selected Black Stars
Mahatma Otoo did not make the provisional Black Stars squad

Ghana striker Mahatama Otoo is rallying support for Black Stars ahead of the 2014 World Cup despite failing to make the provisional squad for the finals in Brazil.

The 22-year-old was one of the casualties of the 26-man squad named by coach Kwesi Appiah at an organized press conference on Monday.

Otoo was hoping to earn a return to the Ghana team following his recent surge in form for Norwegian club Sogndal.

Coach Appiah however decided otherwise in selecting four strikers which include captain Asamoah Gyan, Kevin-Prince Boateng, Abdul Majeed Waris and Jordan Ayew to make his provisional squad.

The ex Hearts of Oak captain who refuses to be bogged down by the disappointing news is urging Ghanaians to throw their support behind the team at the World Cup.

“Congrats to all my colleagues who made the squad,” Otoo Tweeted.

“Wishing them all the best. Ghanaians, lets support them with our prayers. Go make us proud.”

Otoo who emerged the top scorer in last season’s Ghana Premier League has scored three goals in six league matches so far this season for Sogndal.
