Ghana international Emmanuel Frimpong and his Barnsley side have suffered relegation from the English Championship after losing to Middlesbrough on Saturday afternoon.

Middlesbrough finally decided the fate of the struggling side at the Riverside when they condemned them to the League One after beating them 1-0. Ghana winger Albert Adomah contributed to Barnsley's fate when he set up Lee Tomlin to score the third in their victory.

The Championship has just one round of games to draw down the curtains on the season and even a victory for Barnsley in their last game of the campaign against Queens Park Rangers would not be able to save them from the shackles of relegation.

But on Friday when Barnsley were being dragged to the guillotine, Frimpong was not part of the team that made the trip to the Riverside.

Since joining Barnsley from Arsenal in January, the 22-year-old has started just 6 games and completed 3 while playing in a total of nine league games.
