Ex-Ghana captain Stephen Appiah says it would not be easy to record a third-straight World Cup win over USA in Brazil this June.

The Black Stars hold the aces ahead of their Group G opener against the Yanks on 16 June in Natal.

Appiah scored the winner in Ghana’s 2-1 win over the Stars and Stripes in their 2006 finals Group stage match played in Nurnberg.

Four years later, he played a cameo to help eliminate them at the round 16 stage in South Africa.

Appiah has advised the current crop of players not to write off the Americans.

“It is going to be difficult because beating them on two occasions it is never going to be easy,” Appiah said in a recent interview.

“But here is the case they are playing us first and that will be difficult and definitely they are coming for revenge.”

USA look rejuvenated under former Germany and Bayern Munich coach Jurgen Klinsmann and have vowed to avenge.
