Ex-Ghana defender Sebastian Barnes is disappointed with the decision to leave out defensive duo John Mensah and John Pantsil from the country’s provisional World Cup squad.

The two experienced players were overlooked for the more youthful Jonathan Mensah and Daniel Opare.

Campaigns to have Mensah especially included had been immense but the Ghanaian trainer decided against including the injury-prone centre-back in his team.

However, Barnes, who is the team youth coach at the German side is unimpressed with the decision.

“I think our defence, we need the two experienced guys - John Mensah and John Paintsil,” Barnes told Goal Ghana.

“ In the midfield Antony Annan should have been included, although they don’t feature in their clubs their experience and push up would have helped.

“All the same the squad is not bad and much will depend on the defenders, with the midfield and attack there is not much problem. We can go far in Brazil.”
