Ex-Ghana international Joe Addo wants fans to measure their expectations on Jordan Ayew following a barnstorming performance from the Marseille striker during the 4-0 demolishing of South Korea in their final pre-World Cup friendly on Monday.
The 22-year-old profited from Abdul Majeed Waris early injury to make a bold statement by grabbing a memorable hat-trick for the Africans at the Sun Life stadium in Miami.
Ayew has come under the spotlight and now in pole position to stake a claim for a starting role at the global showpiece in Brazil.
However, ex-Ghana defender Joe Addo wants fans to cool expectations on the third son of Ghana legend Abedi Pele.
ââ¬ÅJordan did extremely well against South Korea but we must not blow his performance out of proportion,â⬠he said
ââ¬ÅHe is a young kid who is growing in confidence and itââ¬â¢s good for us.
ââ¬ÅBut we must be cautiously optimistic and not get carried away. He needs to keep his focus and be calm.
ââ¬ÅI our quest to encourage him, we must not say things that will get into his head. This is just a friendly.
ââ¬ÅIn as much as I admits that scoring three goals in even gutter-to-gutter matches, is not easy we must be careful in how we blow his performance out of proportion.ââ¬
Ayew is now in line to fight for a starting role with Abdul Majeed Waris with Asamoah Gyan and Kevin-Prince Boateng starting places guaranteed.
