2014 World Cup: Ex-Ghana star Osei Kofi tips coach Appiah to steer Black Stars to success
Kwesi Appiah will lead the Black Stars to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil

Ex-Ghana midfielder Osei Kofi says Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah will surprise the world with his astute tactical acumen that helped the side to qualify for the 2014 World Cup in style.

The Black Stars reached the World Cup by scoring the highest number of goals in the qualifiers and still managed to advance to Brazil despite Zambia being given three free points in the qualifiers.

Ghana being drawn in the tough group that includes Germany, Portugal and USA many have said that the Black Stars will struggle at the 2014 World Cup.

But Osei Kofi, who coached Appiah at Asante Kotoko, insists despite the toughness of the group, the Black Stars coach will steer the side to victory with his tactical acumen.

“I know Kwesi Appiah can do it and that is why we stood by him as a Ghanaian coach. What the white men used four years to achieve, Kwesi Appiah used only two years,” Osei Kofi said.

“Appiah used eight months to qualify Ghana to the AFCON and in less than two years Ghana qualified for the World Cup.

“I believe with the current team he has now, he will be able to shock the world in Brazil.”

Ghana will open their World Cup campaign against the USA before playing Germany and Portugal in Group G.
