Ex-Ghana international Joe Addo says Kwesi Appiah's 26 provisional man squad for the World Cup is not the best to represent the country.

Appiah’s set-up includes players like Michael Essien, Sulley Muntari, Asamoah Gyan, Kwadwo Asamoah and Andre Ayew who have World Cup experience.

The preliminary squad has promising stars like Majeed Waris, Afriyie Acquah and Jordan Ayew.

The inclusion of Leicester City's Jeffrey Schlupp ahead of Ashanti Gold's Joshua Tijani, who had an excellent CHAN tournament in South Africa, has been criticized by the former Hearts of Oak.

"I don’t think the team is the best we have in this country. Not at all. I believe we should have had at least a couple of local guys who did well in the just ended Chan tournament in the team," Addo told Accra based Power FM

"Tijani Joshua was solid and a bit of recognition could help spark his career to the next level.’’

Addo also talked about the omission of both John Mensah and Isaac Vorsah saying their lack of game time made it difficult for the coach to include them

"For Vorsah and Mensah I believe their injury concerns and form did them little good and in a natural sense it would be difficult to include them."
