VfR Aalen new recruit Phil Ofosu Aryee could be the surprise inclusion in Ghana’s squad ahead of the World Cup as Kwesi Appiah prepares to name his provisional list in the next few hours.

The German-born Ghanaian defender, who previously played for German third division side MSV Duisburg is being touted as the surprise inclusion in the gaffer’s squad, expected to be released on Monday.

The 22-year-old, 1.83 tall, has been in phenomenal form for the German side as he played 33 games and scored once.

He has expressed his desire to represent the country of his father, Nana Kojo Ofosu-Aryeh.

He was given a call-up to the preliminary Ghana U-20 squad for the 2011 African Youth Championship, but his club at the time, SV Wilhelmshaven, refused to give him permission to play at the tournament.
