2014 World Cup: Ghana assistant coach Konadu reveals there will be heartbreaks after squad naming
Konadu says when his boss Appiah names the squad there will be mourning

Ghana assistant coach Maxwell Konadu says hearts of some Ghanaian footballers will be broken this afternoon when the Black Stars squad for the World Cup is named in Accra.

The former international striker says the depth of talent in the 50,000 Ghanaian footballers means that not all players can make the provisional squad to be named by coach Kwesi Appiah.

Konadu admits that a lot players will be disappointed because they have too many to choose from and that those who are unlucky must admit their faith and worker harder for possible for call-ups.

"There will always be heartbreaks no matter the players we select. On Monday the list will be announced and everyone will know who is going and who is not," Konadu said.

"But all said and done we cannot take everyone to the World Cup or any other tournament for that matter.

“All players that will be selected are all worthy ambassadors for the nation, but again, there will be another set of heartbreaks after our camping exercise as we will have do trim the team to 23 for the tournament.

"Its normal and the players will have to show maturity in case they are not selected,” the assistant coach added.

Coach Appiah is expected to name his 30-man provisional squad for the World Cup.
