Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan has admitted he is thrilled after becoming the only African player to equal Roger Milla’s record at the World Cup finals.

The 28-year-old scored a magnificent powerful half-volley in the 63rd minute to put the Black Stars ahead in their 2-2 draw with Germany on Saturday.

That fabulous strike took Gyan’s World Cup finals goal tally to 5 and equalled a record held by Cameroon’s Roger Milla and unrivalled for a decade.

“Yes I’m happy but I’m the team captain and the team’s success comes first but scoring here is great and personally I’m happy,” the Al Ain hit-man said in the post-match interview.

Gyan has also become the only African striker to score at three different World Cup finals.
