Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan has launched an attack on organizers of the Arabian Gulf League Awards after he was overlooked for the Foreign Player of the Year gong.

Gyan insists he deserved the accolade after personally flourishing in the top-flight despite a decrepit season for Al Ain.

The Black Stars captain banged in 29 goals to emerge to win the league goal king for the third consecutive time.

But organizers gave the award to striker Grafite, (scorer of 19 goals), who plays for league winners Al Ahli.

It is unclear if Gyan was punished for failing to attend the ceremony which was held a day before their President’s Cup final against Al Ahli.

“I played every minute in the league (90minutes) with just one yellow card. What else do they want? From now nobody should nominate me for any award in the UAE because they are not fair,” Gyan exclusively told Africanfootball.com

“The award was given to the same guy last season because I told them I couldn’t attend the event because Ghana had a World Cup qualifier against Sudan and Lesotho.

“Even my award as top scorer of the league was not presented because I wasn’t at the function.”
