2014 World Cup: Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan furious after top UAE award snub

Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan has launched an attack on organizers of the Arabian Gulf League Awards after he was overlooked for the Foreign Player of the Year gong.

Gyan insists he deserved the accolade after personally flourishing in the top-flight despite a decrepit season for Al Ain.

The Black Stars captain banged in 29 goals to emerge to win the league goal king for the third consecutive time.

But organizers gave the award to striker Grafite, (scorer of 19 goals), who plays for league winners Al Ahli.

It is unclear if Gyan was punished for failing to attend the ceremony which was held a day before their President’s Cup final against Al Ahli.

“I played every minute in the league (90minutes) with just one yellow card. What else do they want? From now nobody should nominate me for any award in the UAE because they are not fair,” Gyan exclusively told

“The award was given to the same guy last season because I told them I couldn’t attend the event because Ghana had a World Cup qualifier against Sudan and Lesotho.

“Even my award as top scorer of the league was not presented because I wasn’t at the function.”

@mumbi, look no zambian player can match the level of Asamoah Gyan. Zambians are very good in prostitution. African monkeys speaking this language: kekeke, kikiki, kukukuku, kukukaka kukukaka!

The racist Arabs are showing their true color. They smile in your face and stab you at the back. That is how they are. For some unknown reason they have forgotten that they are nothing but Arabs with no respect in the west. The only thing that keep them in the news is their oil.

Guys, you can't give this Mumbi guy any attention. Don't even insult him. He loves the attention, the insults etc. The only antidote to a person like him is just ignore him as if nobody has read his post, as if he doesn't exist or hasn't written nothing. The reason why people post on this site is for dialogue so if you are totally ignored, it's like you haven't written nothing. To Gyan, this is my piece of advice: You need to quit this mediocre league. This is the Arab for you. I know them really well. They have a total disregard for the African, especially those from the continent. If you are black playing for say Brazil, America, France , England or even Ecuador, anywhere, it's okay but not the continent. (Their policy is like that of Man. U under Sir Alex Ferguson). The Arabs can't stand an African from the continent being their MVP for two consecutive years. So this is what you can do. At the 2014 WC, try to play your heart out, and be a hit. Then after the WC you can leave. You can get a good contract in one of the top leagues in the world say England, Italy, Germany, France, Spain, Portugal or even Turkey (you know, they are Muslims but not Arabs), and I know you can make it. The money might be smaller but you can make a name for yourself, and become a legend like say Abedi, Drogba or Eto'o. Overthere, you can do everything but they will not recognize you. A word to the wise....., Thanks
