Black Stars skipper Asamoah Gyan is confident Ghana will be third time lucky when they cross swords with Jurgen Klinsman’s USA in Brazil this June.

The in-form forward revealed that meeting the same side in the same competition for the third consecutive time raises the stakes when the two clash on June 16 in Natal.

Ghana have triumphed in the first two meetings – in Germany and when South Africa hosted the World festival in 2010.

He indicated in an interview that the two defeats seemed to have motivated the Americans, and they would not wish to fall for the third consecutive time to the same side.

However, Gyan said the Black Stars are aware of the American threat and are fired up for that particular encounter.

“It’s a game we will approach with all seriousness. We have met twice and we triumphed on both occasions, so it is obvious they will be more aggressive this time, but we are bent on beating them again,” said Gyan.

Ghana are pitted against USA, Portugal and Germany in Group G of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
