Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah is prepared to give local players a fair chance of making his squad for the 2014 World Cup but admits to the difficulty in calling up first timers.

The Black Stars trainer will be announcing his provisional 30-man squad for June’s tournament in Brazil on May 12.

The squad is expected to be thoroughly dominated by foreign-based players with almost no chance a home-based star to make the highly competitive squad.

This is in contrast to when Appiah first took over where he invited several home-based players into his squad.

The temporal sabbaticals of key players such as Andre Ayew, Sulley Muntari and Kevin-Prince Boateng helped this course in freeing up limited spaces in the Black Stars team.

Opportunities for locally based players have since been few and far in between since the return of the trio while others who used to be home-based have secured moves abroad.

Coach Appiah however maintains his believe in the quality of talents but says it is difficult for him to hand players with no prior experience with the Black Stars team call ups.

"At the moment, there are still some local players that I'm looking at but it's difficult sometimes when the player has not been invited before," Appiah told AllSports.

“Most of the time when you are invited and you mix up with the seniors your confident level rises."

"Playing at the bigger stage they are able to compete. When they come initially there's kind of jittery a lot bit and I always say that it's always good to give them chance and hopefully I believe many of them can be of help in the future."
