Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah admits the weight of expectations on his team at the 2014 World Cup has been heightened following his honorary doctorate award.

The Black Stars trainer amongst some prominent personalities were handed the award by the Day Spring Christian University of Mississippi for their enormous contribution to society.

Appiah was being recognized and celebrated for being the first indigenous Ghanaian to qualify the Black Stars to a World Cup finals.

The ex Ghana captain this joins and elite group of 'doctors' in the country despite not climbing far top of the academic ladder.

Appiah however admits expectations have been notched a bit further after receiving the prestigious accolade but says he is confident his team will rise up to the challenge at the World Cup in Brazil.

“Automatically more especially when it comes to football, Ghanaians our second food is football, every Ghanaian loves football,” he told AllSports.

“And for that reason even though I was being acknowledged for what I have done so far I also know that everybody will be expecting much more from me.

“For me, it is kind of an encouragement; it urges me on to do the best within me.

“I have come to believe that if you do anything in life to the best of your knowledge automatically you will be honoured, people will recognize that.

“And talking of football, I have 100 percent believe that all Ghanaians expect me and for that matter the team to perform excellently during this World Cup.”

Seize this opportunity to enhance your reputation and prove your critics wrong!! There is nothing impossible under the sun but before u can do the impossibility,u should have a game plan! Have a plan for all your games! Try and study our opponents weakness and strong points and used it against them! Study videos of our opponents and have a strong tactical formationas well as strategy for each game! Play mind games with them too and let them believe that we are WEAK thru the art of deception!! Stop putting pressure on yourself by saying always that GHANA IS NOT SCARED OF ANY OPPONENTS and that we ll shock the world!! As a general u can oonly win a war when u make your opponents believed that u are weak so that u take them unprepared!! Let our opponents believed in their invincibility and let's us add to that by making them believe in their own hype whiles we take the underdog tag and fully sting them unprepared! Finally who cares if Ghana doesn't make it to the second rounds after all that's what every pundits is expecting so we should turn that low expectations and less pressure to do the unthinkable!

did Appiah hear what Mou said, in terms of assistant goal keeper he prefers those with experience like schwaezer and hilario who seen it all and ready to step in at anytime please appeah take oleley as third goal keep not 3 inexperience goalkeepers at the international scene. if u make the right decisions everything will be ok.

Do you think Ghanaians made you a coach without expecting good results? We gave you opportunity to have a Technical Director and you refused, refused? Go to Brazil and deliver - take it or leave it.
