Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah insists his provisional selection for the 2014 World Cup has been well informed by extensive monitoring of players.

The Black Stars trainer named a provisional 26-man squad for June’s tournament in Brazil on Monday.

The squad had major casualties including the experienced trio of John Mensah, Isaac Vorsah and Anthony Annan who have struggled for regular playing time at their respective clubs due to injuries.

Jeffry Schlupp, David Accam and Afriyie Acquah were however the major beneficiaries of the provisional squad as a reward for their impressive displays at club level.

Coach Kwesi Appiah in defending his squad on Monday, says he had collected enough information on his players to arrive at his provisional selection.

“I have always said that if you have a team and you are a Ghanaian then we will monitor you,” Appiah said.

“We have a chat we use to monitor players every weekend so we look at every Ghanaian player who is playing at his club.”
