Rennes coach Philippe Montanier has hinted that John Boye could be handed a started role in Wednesday’s Coupe de France round 16 tie against Auxerre away.

The centre-back could step in for Cédric Hountondji due to fatigue.

“It is a possibility as Cédric Hountondji has played a lot of games and getting tired," Montanier replied when asked about Boye’s availability.

He was an unused substitute in last Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Ajaccio.

Boye has been battling injuries since September last year after captaining Ghana in a 3-1 friendly defeat to Japan.

His return will be a massive boost for Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah ahead of naming his World Cup squad in three months time.
