Ghana's assistant coach Maxwell Konadu says the team is determined not to concede in their final group game of the 2014 World Cup against Portugal on Thursday.

The Black Stars have already shipped in four goals – more than what they conceded for their whole campaign four years ago in South Africa.

Ghana remain winless in the tournament being staged in Brazil but are still in with a chance to qualify from Group G.

They will however need to beat Portugal comprehensively while hoping Germany does the job on the USA in the other group game in order to go through.

The Black Stars' defensive vulnerability has however been a major source of worry for many.

But assistant coach Maxwell Konadu insists the team is working extremly hard to stregthen their rear, starting from Thursday's crucial game against Portugal.

“We are working very hard not to concede – at least against Portugal we don't concede,” he said.

“When we meet Portugal, we are working very hard not to concede.”

Whiles Ghanaians are praying for a win and also for German and USA to play it fair, our authorities are confused as usual refusing to pay the players their bonuses!! Whenever I read such a disgraceful news from the western media, it hurts me so bad!! When are we going to do things right so that the biased western media ll stop making fun of us! I have read this news from a lot of biased western media and the pic of our president in those media leaves much to be desire! Omg! They have intentionally put a very poor pic of the man just to ridicule us and I don't blame them but our leaders who have made Ghana a fail state! U reap what u SOW!

OMG, all the pundits are predicting a drawn grame between U.S. and Germany. They all seem to believe that the fix is in, and it does not seem odd to them. Ghana must fire Akwasi Appiah if Ghana does not go through for blowing the US game! Shambolic starting line-up and even worse substitution when things were not going well. Yes, and for saying this: "My intension was to bring on the experience players when the US is tired" What kind of thinking is that!?

that will only happen if he gets the central defence up to the task. they need to play with so much intelligence this time....afful must start ahead of opare and waris must come on this time. our aim is not to concede goals but to score more goals....portugal may score 2 but lets score 5 and we ll be through to the next round.

Against portugal, please our DEFENCE SHOULD SIT DEEP AND DEFEND! Portugal has played some of their best match when they COUNTER ATTACK and they can be DEVASTATING when u allow them to counter u! I hope our technical crew knows about this already! If we don't take care to maintain our defensive shape and tries to be too adventurous against them with spaces behind our back, they ll make a MEAL OUT OF US! If we play high line or set the offside trap, they can score us by five goals thru counter attacks! All the Portuguese are banking their hope on quick countera to dismantle us because they knew that were are too adventurous esp when attacking and that ll give them the opportunity to exploit the spaces left behind and we have to be careful how we attack them! They can be quick on the breaks and tomorrows match is going to be a very tactical fame and I hope our crew knew what they are doing!

@jeff, plz make sure u take your ARVs daily to @least prolong your life so that u can witness another WC where no southerb african team will still fail to qualify. Just like you, we know that all your soccer players are HIV positive & there is no way they can compete with healthy West Africans for qualification to the WC. Stop being jealous of us.

My fellow Ghanaians open your eye. Neither The Germans nor the American will do anything to help the black man period. So stop dreaming and accept the fact that we are out.
