2014 World Cup: Ghana FA rules out Black Stars' WAGs for Brazil
Black Stars will not take their WAgs to the World Cup, says Nyantakyi

The Ghana Football Association has told the national team players to forget about taking their wives and girlfriends with them to the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil.

The Black Stars will be heading to South America in June to contest football's showpiece tournament, and a number of squad members are believed to have put forward a proposal allowing them to travel with their significant others.

However, Ghanaian football's governing body insist the squad will not be permitted any such allowances, with the GFA looking to eradicate any potential distractions.

"We will not accept such a proposal and that is the bottom line," Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi told Football411's Ghana correspondent Russel Wiafe.

"We have heard that other countries are doing so and if we follow suit it will be good and it will be in the interest of the players, but this is Ghana and not any other country; we have morals, we have rules, we have dignity to protect as a nation, and as far as am concerned no one will accept such a proposal."

He continued: "The Ghana Football Association for the past years have not seen such a practice so why agree to such a proposal when we know that this can distract some of the players?

"Some cannot concentrate and give their all when they know that their wives and girlfriends are close to them, it is about time we take the bull by the horn and say that the GFA will never accept such a proposal and the players who are thinking of taking their wives and girlfriends to Brazil should rethink again because the FA will not agree to that."
