Ghana returned to training on Tuesday afternoon following their shocking 2-1 defeat to the United States in their opening group game at the 2014 World Cup.

All 23 players of the Black Stars trained took part in the session at the Reil Pele Stadium in Maceio ahead of their second Group G game against Germany on Saturday.

The Black Stars looked cheerful having slept over their disappointing defeat against USA in Natal on Monday night.

The team will be training in Maceio until Friday when they fly into Fortaleza for the game on Saturday.

Claims of a player revolt was not seen as all the 23 players trained vigorously with coach Appiah in full charge of training while trying to lift the spirits of his players with a pep talks before the session and then later sharing jokes with his players.

the coach better work on some set pieces. and for fucksake bench muntari and play asamoah in his position. play 3 midfielders , 2 attacking mids and 1 striker. and run at the german defense. their central defense are not that mobile. play asamoah/essien/badu as the 3 midfielders. nothing else is needed. bring rabiu at halftym to replace essien. kpb and ayew behind asamoah gyan.

USA fan here. Germany will win, but i hope that Ghana can bruise them nicely before we play them. Please Ghana make them bleed and limp. All the best against Portugal too.

Kwasi Appiah is just a liability to the management. how can a coach in his right senses bench KPB and Essen with the intention of bringing them on when the Americans are tired, this is simply madness. he also went ahead using Kwadzo Asamoah at an unfavourable left back position in the this black stars squad. he should know that with the club side,we have a variety of tester excellent players to choose from. I am disappionted in the coach.

I absolutely agree with you. And talking about luck, although i agree that Kwarasey has better form than Dauda, Ghana has never won a single game with Kwarasey in post. Dauda with all his rustiness is able to help organize the Ghana defence much much better, and seems to have a good luck whenever he's in post. I'm sure Appiah dropped him bcos of the enormous pressure to let Kwarasey be in post, but its clear that he would prefer Dauda on any good day. All in all, I wish Ghana better luck in the next two games. Who knows, we may come to the party!

Germany has good headers of the ball. With defenders like John boye who slips in and out of consciousness during games, corners will be dangerous for the blackstars

we allowed AA alone and he won. which coach will say he benched KPB with the thought that when americans are tired then he brings him in. idiot.

They've been training for a long time and we still don't see that during their match. Ghana has no coach. That is what I see. Here is my reasons: 1. During the friendly match against Holland, they scored us within 2mins of the game. What did Akwasi Appiah fixed? Did the same thing happen in our game against the United States? 2. What does set pieces mean to the Ghana team. Apparently nothing. They don't make good uses of corner kicks nor free kicks etc. 3. The coach seems to have no plan for the game thus he always relies on crossings from the wings. For the first place, we are in the world cup and teams are smarter than that. Only crossing from the wings wont score goals. Adoma is not needed. Akwasi Appiah should make a strategy and use his pacey players well.

For those writing Ghana off after the US loss and not giving them a chance against Germany... Remember 2006 - lost a heartbreaker to Italy, whom we outplayed, due to 2 defensive lapses, 1 by no other than one of Ghana's all-time experienced best defenders, Sammy Kuffour. We however came back strong against #2 ranked Czech Replubic, who had just thrashed US 3-0, and convincingly beat them 2-0. I watched Germany beat 10-man Portugal 4-0 after being gifted a penalty and Pepe sent off. Germany was not impressive, playing without a striker upfront, and looking like a very average beatable team. In fact, despite losing to US due to a couple of defensive lapses and lack of composure upfront, the BS played better against a very determined and well-prepared US team than Germany fared against a so-so 10-man Portugal team. Just as in 2006, Ghana WILL beat Germany and Portugal to advance to the round of 16!!! So for ALL Ghanaians out there, stop bashing our coach and support the team to the fullest as this set of players have the ability to match up with any team in the World Cup!!! Good luck BLACK STARS!!!!!

You outplayed without winning is just useless, those days of beautiful, entertaining football are over,it's only a coach with tactical brains that wins.

Good one there. This kind of loss happened to us before by Italy in 2006 but we progressed... I am personally confident we shall beat both Germany and Portugal to really put an end and shame to critics while making Ghana proud in the process.. We lost against a team with no intent of progressing from the group or even winning the cup..The Yanks just came with only 1 ambition which is to beat GHANA but at the end, they will actually be doing us a favor when Germany bulldoze them as well as Portugal beating Em 1 nil... Group G = GHANA GERMANY It is already written in the stars

Stop hiding form truth and face the reality, Reef or whatever you choose to call yourself. In 2006 We lost to a former world champion(Italy) and beat overrated Czech Republic. Now we lost to a our bogey team(USA) and now we are going to face an in form former world champion, and you think we can beat them with our clueless Appiah?.Come on, be realistic and stop being naïve, my good brother. Both Germany and Portugal will beat hands down, mark my words.

Who cares about Ghana now.No chance of qualification. The worst could be no points for Ghana. A big task to get points against Germany and Portugal. Appiah is not a good coach, that's it. Tactically bankrupt and changing his starting line up every game with different players. Being in charge for almost three years now, Appiah could not build a team around his core eleven players and with a particular style of play to enhance team cohesion and consistency.

I am wondering why Ghanaians are pissed off at Kwasi Appiah. No coach in his right sense will start essien ahead of rabiu or agyemang badu. Names dont play footbal, form and skills do. Essien is trash now. My problem was that we couldn't find a good left back so that kojo asamoah good move to the midfield. concerning the position of right back, inkoom, afful and opare are all the same and didn't matter who played. kwasi appiah should be left alone to do his job, he decides who to play and that is final. in football luck is sometimes the deciding factor and unfortunately we had none yesterday.

Yo woodini capo if everybody involved in Ghanaian football thought like you we would be a much better team It's over people face facts It's all about damaged limitation now This is the most experienced team we have had but appiah has made a total mess of things He is such a stupid man tactically but he tries to be smart lol He will make decision to not start essien and boeteng which was wrong but he tries to cover himself by bringing them on later to show he tried both ways The man is out of his depth and so are the people who are hiring these coaches 2014 game against USA is the day I fell out of love with African football!

Against the Germans Coach should use the Netherlands defensive formation of 5-3-2. With Gyan and Waris as strikers. In the back have Afful left full Jonathan Mensah, Essien Rashid Sumaila in central defense and Inkoom on the right. In the midfield Kwadwo Asamoah Kevin Prince Boateng and Dede on the right wing. Or a 3-5-2. with Gyan and Waris as strikers and load the midfield with all our fire power. Dede on the outside left, Kwadwo Asamoah inside left Kevin Prince Boateng and Essien. Muntari should rest because he is carrying a yellow card. The full backs should be Afful on the left full back and Inkoom on the right full back and Rashid Sumaila in the center. Give Stephen Adams his first shot in Goal. He is young and hungry and will not disappoint. In contrast to Dauda he has not been sitting on the bench and he almost won the CHAN so he is no push over. Kwarasey does not seem to be as animated as he did against the Netherlands. If Kwarasey starts I want to hear him yelling at his full backs to get out of the box and go out and challenge the attackers for the ball. He has to get his players to mark every opposing player. For those players in a fog he must yell at them to wake them up. KPB must play 90 minutes against the Germans since he has been antagonising the whole team and nation. He must be the tip of the Black Stars spear. Finally Nyantakyi get it together. You must do your job and make sure the players have comfortable accommodations at all times all it takes is one stinking phone call. You are not in Brazil for a vacation. Do your job plan ahead, your players must be well rested and fed to give out their maximum effort on the field.
