Russia-based midfielder Mohammed Rabiu says he is prepared to reclaim his anchorman role in Ghana’s midfield at the 2014 World Cup having won his battle with injuries.

The 24-year-old came off the bench to score his first ever goal for Kuban Krasnodar in their 4-0 drubbing of Kraylya Sovetov on Saturday.

Rabiu has been limited to just eight appearances for his Russian club this season with injury taking its toll on the tough tackling Black Stars midfielder.

The ex Evian TG man has also not played for Ghana since September when he suffered the injury.

Rabiu as a result missed out on the crucial World Cup playoffs against Egypt that sealed Ghana’s qualification to a third successive finals in Brazil.

The 24-year-old now says he is ready to reclaim his key midfield role in the Black Stars team at the World Cup once given the chance.

“I'm ready to play in Brazil,” the tireless midfielder declared.

“We are in touch with the head coach, and if he would give me a chance, with God's help I hope to adequately play for his team.”

Rabiu will however come up against stiff competition in reclaiming his starting role for the Black Stars at the World Cup with the likes of Sulley Muntari and Michael Essien all in contention for the central midfield spot.
