Ghana international midfielder Sulley Muntari handed AC Milan the lead against Atalanta but the Rossoneris ended losing 2-1 at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia on Sunday morning.

The 29-year-old, returning to the Milan starting line-up helped them get in front 6 minutes in the second-half with a deflected a strike.

Muntari is not likely to be credited with the goal as it came off Atalanta defender Gianpaolo Bellini before traversing the goal-line for the opening goal of the morning.

Dutch international Nigel de Jong and Kaka exchanged passes in the middle and the latter found Muntari on the flanks but the Ghanaian’s intended cross for Mario Balotelli came off Bellini and beat the hosts keeper for the opening goal.

However Milan were unable to guard their lead as Atalanta fought back to equalise and win the lead.

Ghana midfielder Michael Essien sat on the bench in the entire duration of the game.

Michael Essien has been relegated to permanent bench warmer. Does he deserve to be called up for the World Cup? I think not.

  2. OGYA says:

No way, he is got to be called no matter what. He is more important to the Black Stars than Fatau Dauda.

  3. jb says:

How can anyone who understand football say we should drop essien, please watch gh vs Egypt again

Essien is a floap and doesn’t deserve a place in the BS.
When he was worming the bench in Chelsea many were those who thought Morino had a n agenda because Portugal were in our group.
Less did we know that he has really become a permanent bench warmer.
Others are playing week in week out and must be called at the expense of Essien.
When he was in form and we needed him most he declined our call.
Now he wants Gh to relaunch his dead carrier.

I still remember Milovan naming his WC squad with bunch of inexperience players. I thought Essien would do something to rescind his decision, in order, to help his nation. I almost cried that day. With God on our side, our boys proved him wrong and did better. Table turns, bridges burn.

  6. pacific says:

@prime what are u talking about??please i beg u stop saying what u dont know…who told u essien didnt want to play for Ghana in 2010 worldcup?? For your information essien got injured whiles playing for Ghana in afcon 2010 in Angola and he was ruled out of the world cup because of that injury..Essien even played almost all the qualifier matches but injury ruled him.out… Some of guys just came to write bullshit without facts..check ur facts well..

  7. KWABENA PISO says:

His experience will be needed even on the bench.

  8. jb says:

Paulinho is not regular for spurs but he is part Brazil team, Essien is very experience player and can make huge contribution. yes is the world cup that is why experience matters

  9. harry says:

Essien is f**king slow guys.Just watch him play.E Agyemang Badu can do same job better. This WC has nothing to do with experience but it has everything to do with Strength,Skill and Speed. If experience then lets go for John Painsil,Stephen Appiah and Olele and maybe Abedi Pele.
