Ghana international midfielder Sulley Muntari handed AC Milan the lead against Atalanta but the Rossoneris ended losing 2-1 at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia on Sunday morning.

The 29-year-old, returning to the Milan starting line-up helped them get in front 6 minutes in the second-half with a deflected a strike.

Muntari is not likely to be credited with the goal as it came off Atalanta defender Gianpaolo Bellini before traversing the goal-line for the opening goal of the morning.

Dutch international Nigel de Jong and Kaka exchanged passes in the middle and the latter found Muntari on the flanks but the Ghanaian's intended cross for Mario Balotelli came off Bellini and beat the hosts keeper for the opening goal.

However Milan were unable to guard their lead as Atalanta fought back to equalise and win the lead.

Ghana midfielder Michael Essien sat on the bench in the entire duration of the game.
