2014 World Cup: Kevin-Prince Boateng fires Germany warning, Ghana will 'fight to the death'

Boateng says the Black Stars will fight the Germans to death

Ghana midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng has turned up the heat for Saturday's World Cup Group G match against Germany warning the Europeans that the Black Stars will 'fight to the death'.

The Berlin-born midfielder, whose brother Jerome plays for the German national team, compared the clash in Fortaleza to a gladiator-style 'fight to the death'.

The Black Stars must get at least a draw from the match against the Germans to have any chance of progressing to the knock-out stages of the competition.

The Germans are the overwhelming favourites to the win the match but Boateng says the Black Stars will come out fighting even it if means they will die on the pitch.

"It's like in ancient Rome. There will be people around the pitch who want to see how two teams fight," the Schalke 04 star told German magazine Sport Bild.

"The team who wants it more will win and we will fight to the death against Germany."

Boateng opted to play for Ghana, the country of his father, in 2009 and will be up against his half-brother and Germany right-back Jérôme Boateng in Fortaleza.

Germany top their group after Monday's 4-0 hammering of Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal, while Ghana are third after their 2-1 defeat to the USA the same day.

The flamboyant ex-Tottenham Hotspur and AC Milan star has criticised the Germans in the past, saying Joachim Low's squad lacks "characters and leaders" when the going gets tough.

"Whenever things matter, they don't make it," he added.

But the 27-year-old says he has no worries about his words being used as motivation against him. "Low can hang these sentences on the wall with pleasure," insisted Boateng.

"This isn't a game-related opinion, more like something fundamental."

Do you think Ghana can defeat Germany? Do you think coach Appiah should start Boateng in the match against Germany since the midfielder has got a bone to pick with the Germans? Would the match motivate Boateng to bring something special? Make your views known in the box below

Black Stars can arise and shine..If I were in the shoes of coach AA, this will be my selection and tactics against Germany.[ 4-4-2 formation with variations] [1] Kwarasey [2] Inkoom [4] J.Mensah [5] J.Boye [3] Afful [7] Dede [8] Essien [6] A-Badu [11] KASAM[Play maker] [9] Gyan [10] KPBoateng Reserves: Muntari, Acquah, Atsu, Wakaso, Warris, Adams Tactics Be your brother’s keeper attitude..two two [2/7] Dede and Inkoom [3/11]Kasam/Afful…But KWSAM will play behind the strikers [help defense, midfield and create chances for the strikers]. [4/5]Mensah/Boye [8/6] Essien/Badu[ one a while joins the attack especially during corner kicks and comes back ASAP[vice versa] [9/10] Gyan lone striker/KPB 2nd striker plus free role. Tit Bits @Advise Gyan to improve upon his headings up front. He should head downwards so when the ball hits the ground can beat the goalkeeper. @Advise KPBoateng to improve upon his shootings up front. He must maintain his composure to take his chances. @Advise Boye and Mensah not to lose concentration but remain focused throughout the match @2/3 Should not overlap unless there is an opportunity. @4 Midfielder should fight hard to capture the midfield which is the engine room. @Advise Kwarasey to be alert all the time and to program his mind that no ball will pass him. He must also build his confidence that he has that capabilities to excel. Go go Black stars…goal….

Me & you are in the same boat, I'm also 20 and ever since I started watching Ghana, we have gradually progressed through the World stages. 06 - we got to the knockout stages, 10 - nearly made it to the semis, 14 - we are possibly coming home with no points due to comical coaching. Appiah has effectively taken us backwards. Everyone knew you had issues from African Nations, a year has passed and you've brought your issues to the World Cup. What have they been teaching AA down at Man City? Out of every team in the World Cup, we're the only team who still don't know our 1st team lineup. I don't understand why we never used our 1st team lineups in the friendlies to let everyone gel together, there you were chopping & changing and look where it has got us. I waited 4 years for this WC after the excitement the Black Stars gave me and now you effectively dashed my hopes away in the first match. You made a fool out of us at AFCON and you've done it again, thank you very much. On another note, del Bosque may end up losing his job whilst Ghana are happy to reward mediocrity, it's a damn shame

Kwarasey did what he had to do. Blame the defense. No way Dempsey should have a 1 on 1 with Boye from where he had the ball. Where was Rabiu who was to play the right side of holding midfield. Muntari who was playing the left was seen chasing Dempsey from the right of the field. sloppy defense caused us the first goal. Second goal was just a good header away from the goalie. He only had a chance if it came to him like the Mexican goalie was lucky to have. Kwarasey did his best. People are angry and will blame anyone for anything. Understand the game and know who to blame if anyone. The coaching staff are not up to the task. KA is clueless and not aggressive. He is not a risk taker, he just makes bad decisions. Ghana makes players not coaches. All of our players play outside the country and so should our coach. Because our past coaches have been white, people make it a racial thing. bring in a competent black coach if that makes people happy and lets move on.

Thats is something we must do now. Thanks to kwasia Appiah. If we fight and still lose. I will still be proud of black stars. It was coaching that failed us. I am 20 and every world cup i have ever seen had ghana passing 06 i was 12 years old. 2010 i was 16. It will be strange to not see ghana if we dont win.NO MORE LOCAL COACHES.

Knowing this coach he might save kpb for injury time or a penalty shootout. Wat a fool. Badu need to play head rabio. Acquah need to play ahead muntari. Put asamoah on left or right. Afful left back. 2 week i would have never said this but bring inkoom back. Because opare is horrible. Atleast inkoom has experience. If acquah doesnt play then put asamoah at center with badu with waris on right. Best 11 Afful boye mensah ---inkoom -----Badu acquah/asomoah Andrew---------- kpb ----------waris/asamoah -------------------gyan-----
