2014 World Cup: Mahatma scores to make strong case for his inclusion in Ghana squad
Mahatma Otoo nodded home the leveller for Sogndal

In-form striker Mahatma Otoo made a strong case for his inclusion in Ghana's provisional World Cup squad when scoring in the Norwegian top-flight on Sunday.

The former Hearts of Oak attacker continued his outstanding form in the Norwegian top-flight by scoring just 24 hours before coach Kwesi Appiah names his squad for the World Cup.

Otoo scored to help his club Sogndal beat IK Start 2-1, establishing that his impressive start to the season is not a fluke.

The 22-year-old drew level for Sogndal with a 67th minute finish for Sogndal after Glenn Andersen had scored five minutes earlier for the visitors.

Sogndal went into game lying inside the relegation zone but they overpowered Start to go out of the danger-zone for the first time this season.

The former Hearts of Oak striker instinctively finished off a move he engineered to peck the scoring before he was replaced in the 85th minute.

Ghanaian international Ernest Asante was introduced by Start 12 minutes from time but he could not help alter the fate of the game for his side.

Otoo has scored four times in all competitions this season with many of the goals coming in the past three weeks.
