Waris, chasing from behind, is set to return for Valenciennes against Olympique Lyon

Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris will return to action for French Ligue 1 side Valenciennes after recovering from a minor thigh problem.

The Reds were forced to play without the influential Spartak Moscow loanee last weekend after he pulled out of training last Monday while scans results prove no major damage to the Ghana international.

But manager Ariel Jacobs has included him in his squad to face Olympique Lyonnais at the Stade du Hainaut.

Valenciennes, who are third from bottom, are eying victory over Lyon who have been overtaken by rivals Marseille in 5th place.

Waris will play a key role in the game for Valenciennes if they are to impress against Lyon.

The Black Stars striker has notched 8 crucial goals in 11 outings for Valenciennes since he joined them in January.
