Ghana steamroller Andre Ayew was in full time action for Olympique Marseille kept their Champions League dreams alive by holding a free-scoring Nantes side to a 1-1 draw on Friday night.

French youth star Florian Thauvin put the visitors ahead after 30 minutes, but Togolese international Serge Gakpe levelled in the 64th minute.

Marseille needed maximum points from the game but Nantes who were inspired by their 6-2 battering of Valenciennes last weekend were in no mood to taste defeat as they fought strongly to hold them to a draw.

After Gakpe had cancelled out Thauvin's opener, Marseille sprung back into life and Andre Ayew had an opportunity to restore their lead, but his shot was beaten away by Riou after Brice Dja Djedje's cross beat the Nantes defence.

Marseille must now maintain a winning streak in the last few games in the Ligue 1 to stand a chance of qualifying for next season's Uefa Champions League.

Pls Akyereko, which champions league are marseille going to ?.As it stands, they won't even be playing in d europa league next season. Only the top 3 teams from france qualify for UCL. They are currently 6th with 53 points. Lille are 3rd with 64 points. A 13 point gap despite Marseille having played One more match than lille. Even if Marseille win all their remaining 3 matches they won't qualify for champions league next season. Buttom line is Ayew should leave marseille if a better team from d EPL or another league comes. Marseille are no longer a big club in france. The likes of PSG,Lille and Monaco are now d Kings of france. They won't be playing in d champions league or europa league next season. So if liverpool are interested, why not make d move ??. Ayew has tried for marseille,i think its time for him to move on.
