Tunisia-based defender Harrison Afful believes Ghana are not underdogs for this June’s FIFA World Cup finals in Brazil.

The Esperance ace, who will be named in Ghana’s squad for the tournament, claims the Black Stars have the credentials to progress from a tough Group comprising Portugal, Germany and USA.

“I think we are in a tough group, but I think they’re also scared of us because Ghana is also one of the big countries,” Afful told CCTV Africa.

“Each country coming to meet Ghana-they make sure they are prepared very well.

“We know we are going to meet world class players.”

Afful was consistent during the qualifiers and will be making his debut at the mundial.

He was conspicuously left out of the squad to the 2010 World Cup finals despite impressing for Esperance in the Tunisian Ligue 1 and the CAF Champions League where they were runners-up.
