2014 World Cup: Ghana World Cup stand-by defender Adusei eligible to play for Dream Team against Black Stars in farewell game
Kotoko defender Kwabena Adusei is eligible to play in Friday's game

Though Ghana coach James Kwesi Appiah has named home-based defender Kwabena Adusei on his 4-man list but the center-back has been included in a local Select Side to play the Black Stars in a farewell game on Friday.

The Asante Kotoko defender was named among 27 players selected locally by fans to play against the Ghana World Cup squad in farewell fashion at the Accra Sports Stadium despite being told to be on stand-by by the Ghana head coach.

The Ghana Football Association have confirmed the four players including Spain-based keeper Razak Brimah, striker Mahatma Otoo, Raman Chibsah and Adusei, will not join the main Black Stars squad until the need arises.

However, concerns were raised whether the quartet could be used by clubs during the period as FIFA could frown upon it.

But GFA Communications head Ibrahim Sannie Daara has confirmed Kotoko can go ahead to use the player meaning he will play in game on Friday.

"There is nothing wrong with using Adusei. He can play for Kotoko as well. What is important to the coach now is that the four players keep their fitness," he said.

Ghana begin their pre-World Cup camping in Accra today with most of the players already in town from their various European bases.
