Black Stars have started training in Accra

started their journey for the 2014 World Cup with their first training session at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday evening with much anticipation.

About 10,000 fans turned up to watch the Black Stars training on the first leg of their planned training before the tournament kicks off in Brazil next month.

13 players including Juventus star Kwadwo Asamoah were among the players who were available for training under coach Kwesi Appiah and his assistant Maxwell Konadu.

Stephen Adams was the only home-based player in the squad and was available for training as well as other youngsters like David Accam, Afriyie Acquah, Majeed Waris, Rashid Sumaila and Mohammed Rabiu.

In-form explosive midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu, Harrison Afful, Fatau Dauda, Jerry Akaminko, Samuel Inkoom and Christian Atsu and Mubarak Wakaso were all available.

The number of players expected in training is expected to swell as the days go by with a full house of expected players rising up to 24 before they depart for the second-leg of their training camp in Holland.

But before their departure they will play a home-based side in a friendly on Friday at the Accra Sports Stadium with kick off time scheduled for 6pm.

Adam Kwarasey, Daniel Opare, Jeffrey Schlupp and Albert Adomah who were absent from the opening session are expected in training on Wednesday.

Michael Essien and Kevin Prince Boateng will not be part of the sessions at home rather they will join the squad in the Netherlands for the second phase of preparations.

They will training in Holland before facing the Dutch national team on 31 May before travelling to the United States for the second-phase of preparations.

The Black Stars will play South Korea in Miami before departing to Brazil and they are expected in their team base camp of Maceio on 11 June five days before their first match against the United States.
