Isaac Vorsah’s hopes of playing in the 2014 FIFA World Cup is hanging by a thread after failing to play in the last game of the season in Austria on Sunday.

This means the defender has not been in action for the entire season hurting his chances of being named in Ghana’s squad on Monday.

The centre-back was hoping to play some matches before the season ends to prove his fitness to coach Kwesi Appiah after a one-year injury induced absence.

But he was not named in the Red Bull Salzburg set up which lost 2-0 at Wolfsberger AC which puts his fitness in doubt.

Salzburg head coach Roger Schmidt had earlier announced that the defender will be in top shape for the tournament.

Naming the towering defender in the squad will be risky for coach Appiah who names his provisional squad tomorrow Monday.

Vorsah tore an anterior cruciate ligament in his knee last May and scheduled to spent six months in the treatment but he could not win the fitness battle.

The 25-year-old played at the 2010 World Cup finals where Ghana reached the quarter-final stage.

  1. Benny says:

It’s a shame but that is life. How l wish Vorsah could be fit for the tourney.
    AA should not risk him.

  2. fu chu says:

Feel really bad for Vorsah…he anchored the Black Stars defense, but we must move on…

  3. wee ba says:

its a shame, lets see what happens on monday

  4. dede says:

GSN is not 2006 world cup rather is 2010 world cup thanx

  5. kofi says:

@dede,please i cant find 2006 in this article.so come out as a man and apologize to GSN.
I think it will be bad to include vorsa
in the squad.i like him very well but his fitness will be problem.
i suggest if it will be possible to include dutch born Ghanaian defender Johan Kappelof of Fc Groinigens he has been feature week in week out for the dutch side.his height will also be an advantage.

  6. access says:

Vorsah will go to Brazil….He’s the heart of Ghana defense…

  7. papa nkrumah says:

i think vorsah is good enough for a 30 man squad. if he doesn’t stand up to the test in camp and perhaps after 1 friendly game, the coach should drop him.

  8. Boro says:

Any player that we send to brazil must be useful to the team on the field of play. Any player that has not recovered fully should not be risked into 30 man squad because we have more than able men to make up the list. Courtesy AA’s idea of calling as many talents Ghana has as possible. Although he was constanly bashed by people like Nyaho Tamkloe who has actually run out of ideas as far as steps to improve the BS team is concerned.

  9. sam says:

i think he wud make the short list

  10. the truth says:

I don’t care, I still think he should be included. With him and Boye at the center, our defense will be strong. we need to include him in the 30man list, after a friendly A.A can make a good assessment of him. Our defense is my only concern, and if vorsah proves fit and ready after a friendly, that will be sooo great. we need Afful vorsah, Boye, Opare in that defense!
