Leicester Cityââ¬â¢s Liam Moore has spoken of his pride at friend and team-mate Jeff Schluppââ¬â¢s call-up to the provisional 26-man Ghana squad for the World Cup.
Schlupp will face friendly games against Holland and South Korea before the squad is trimmed down to a final 23, who will head out to Brazil for the tournament early next month.
Both Moore and Schlupp have thrived since graduating from Leicester Cityââ¬â¢s Academy together, and are a shining example of both the opportunities provided by the Academy and the rewards for hard work.
Moore said: ââ¬ÅIââ¬â¢m buzzing for Jeff. Heââ¬â¢s absolutely top class and heââ¬â¢s worked so hard for this opportunity, what with having to adjust to a new position, so to be called into the 26-man squad is a huge pat on the back for him.
ââ¬ÅHeââ¬â¢s a really good friend of mine. Iââ¬â¢ll be calling him up in the next few days to get all the gossip on how itââ¬â¢s going, but I have every belief in him, and if he shows the kind of form heââ¬â¢s shown for us recently, heââ¬â¢ll do brilliantly.
ââ¬ÅWe were in Thailand when he found out [about the call-up], and I knew he was hoping for a call so I was hovering around him to find out. Then his phone went and he had the biggest smile on his face, he was so happy.
ââ¬ÅHe was over the moon, all the lads are so proud of him. The ones that have been to major tournaments before like Marcin Wasilewski came over to speak to him, and just told him that if he makes the 23-man squad, to enjoy every moment of it, because itââ¬â¢s a great experience. Weââ¬â¢re all hoping that he makes it.ââ¬
