Ghana defender John Boye says his Black Stars teammates are determined to punch above their weights and progress from a tough Group G at the 2014 FIFA World Cup finals Brazil.

The tough tackling defender is expected to assume a leadership role at the back in the absence of John Mensah and Isaac Vorsah.

The Black Stars will need its defence in top shape against star players from European powerhouse Germany and Portugal who have reigning FIFA Ballon D’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo

Boye, who will be making his World Cup debut, claims team’s high level of determination will be the key to Ghana’s success.

“We have a team which is engraved with youth and experience. Determination to wear the shirt of Ghana is high and I believe with God on our side we are going to make it out of the group,” the former Stade Rennes man told GHANASoccernet.com

“We are working hard every day knowing that our opponents are a strong side but in football determination and shear will not to fail can get you the results.”

Boye made his debut for Ghana in 2008 and has since made 28 appearances for the Black stars of Ghana.
