2014 World Cup: Kevin-Prince Boateng tips Ghana cause an upset against Germany and Portugal
Kevin-Prince Boateng says Ghana will cause an upset at the World Cup

Ghana midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng says the Black Stars will cause a major upset at the World Cup in June despite being place in the Group of Death that includes some of the biggest football countries.

The 27-year-old says despite the presence of giants Portugal and Germany in Group G, the Schalke player is confident Ghana can pull some surprises.

Boateng will join the Ghana side to face the USA and the above-mentioned two countries as they fight for place in the knock-out stages of the competition in Brazil in June.

The midfielder insists talk of Germany and Portugal being the favourites will give Ghana the chance to sneak in from behind to cause a major upset in the global tournament.

“We want to pull off an upset,” Boateng told the FIFA Weekly Magazine said.

“Everyone thinks Portugal and Germany will progress to the last 16, and that takes the pressure off us.

“I’m not talking about winning the World Cup though; I don’t want to create any expectations.”

Ghana will start their World Cup campaign on 16 June before taking Germany four days later and finish their group campaign against Portugal.
