Kwesi Appiah has hailed the blend of youth and experience in his Ghana side as they prepare to face USA on Monday.

The Africans have experienced squad which includes Asamoah Gyan and midfielder Sulley Muntari, both playing in their third World Cup, and star midfielder Michael Essien of AC Milan. Defender Jonathan Mensah and forward Kevin-Prince Boateng are also World Cup veterans.

While Appiah has backed his veteran stars to put up a fight for their places, he extolled the impact of the youngsters in the team.

"We've got experienced players. We've got youthful players," Appiah said.

"The experienced players want to leave a name before they go, and the younger ones want to make a mark.

"It's really difficult to pick two of my players who I think can make an impact in the World Cup. I'll choose 11 for you.”

The Black Stars will face USA, Germany and Portugal in a difficult group G games.
