England-based defender Jeffery Schlupp says he is keen playing for Ghana at the World Cup in June after Black Stars monitoring team watched him in action.

The 21-year-old, who plays for Leicester City, was watched by Black Stars assistant coach Maxwell Konadu during his recent visit of England as the Black Stars monitor players before naming their final squad.

Schlupp has played one match for the Black Stars and has been in outstanding form this season with Leicester City helping them to gain promotion to the English Premier League next season.

The striker-turned-defender has fitted in well in the left-back position for Leicester having played 31 matches which means he can solve Ghana's left-back problem.

Schlupp says he is keen on playing for the Black Stars in Brazil in June.

"I have spoken to him a few times and he has always said, ever since I was first capped in 2011, that as long as I was playing regular football he would keep an eye on me," said Schlupp.

"It has come at a good time, to be playing regular football in a promotion-winning team and with the World Cup coming this year. You never know, so fingers crossed.

"There are a few friendlies at the end of the month so I will be speaking to him again shortly and I will see what he says.

"I don't mind how he wants to use me. I would go to the World Cup as the kit man."

Schlupp was born in Germany to Ghanaian parents and moved to England at a tender age to fulfil his ambitions of playing in the Premier League.
