Defender Rashid Sumaila has fixed his sights on earning a place in Ghanaââ¬â¢s squad for the 2014 World Cup after clinching his first title with Mamelodi Sundowns.
The 21-year-old will be picking up his first winnerââ¬â¢s medal on Saturday after the Brazilians were confirmed champions of the South African top flight following comprehensive 3-0 win over SuperSport United on Tuesday.
Sumaila achieved this feat just within one year of joining Sundowns from Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko.
The central defender now says his focused has been shifted towards cementing his place in the Black Stars squad in order to make his first appearance at the World Cup finals.
ââ¬ÅNow that we are done with the league and we have been declared champions, I now turn my focus on my nation,â⬠he told GHANAsoccernet.com.
ââ¬ÅOf course, I want to go to the World Cup and I hope I get the chance to play for the Black Stars in Brazil.ââ¬
The ex Ebusua Dwarfs defender is likely to start for Sundowns in their meaningless coronation game at Maritzburg United on Saturday.
