After denying his involvement in a reported match-fixing scandal and reporting the issue to FIFA, Ghana Football Association President Kwesi Nyantakyi has taken the British press to task and questioned the quality of the English national team - the Three Lions.

The Telegraph, a British media organisation, released a supposed undercover report that implicates the Ghana FA chief and two other leading officials in Ghanaian football administration.

The reports, which has gone viral on the international media which has a Ghana FA Executive Committee Member Obed Nketiah and FIFA Match and Player Agent Christopher Forsythe captured on video agreeing to play matches of convenience, has been seen by a section of the Ghanaian public as ploys to distract Ghana's campaign at the ongoing 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The Telegraph, who first published the reports have conflicting reports in their newspaper and online versions and, the Ghana FA President has questioned the focus and intent of the British press.

“It is a very mischievous publication, there is no merit in it and is meant to derail our hard won reputation but we will not fall for such cheap propaganda and mischievous journalism.

“We are not responsible for England’s [early] exit from the World Cup. And why is it that they [English press] are not targeting European countries where fixing of matches originated?

“Africa is always the target, they only conduct their investigations in Africa.”

Appropriately, the Ghana Football Association have officially asked the Ghana Police and INTERPOL to investigate the claims to prove its innocence of the charges while reports have also been sent to FIFA to conduct their own separate and independent investigations into the matter.

The allegations, which is also coming from the British press adds to existing claims by the same country's media who claims FIFA officials accepted bribe in awarding the 2022 World Cup hosting rights to Qatar.

Their obsession with allegations and accusations of FIFA officials is regarded by many as jealousy and bitter feeling stemming from the fact of their failure to secure the hosting rights of the 2022 World Cup and early exit from the 2014 World Cup.
