There were funny scenes at the Black Stars’ training grounds on Thursday when tiny defender Harrison Afful tried to lift the over 100 pound team manager Sabahn Quaye.

The Ghana team camp has been cheerful over the past few days following their disappointing opening defeat to the USA at the 2014 World Cup.

Ghana suffered a painful 2-1 loss to their usual whipping boys despite their thorough dominance in the game plated last Monday in Natal.

The defeat weighed heavily on the players – leading to an immediate moody camp.

But the atmosphere in the Black Stars camp has improved in recent days ahead of their crunch second group game against Germany on Saturday.

The team held their final training session at the Rei Pele Stadium in Maceio on Thursday ahead of their trip to Fortaleza to face the three-time winners.

In a hilarious scene during the training session, diminutive Esperance defender Harrison Afful displayed his hidden strength by attempting to lift his bulky team manager who weights over a 100 pounds.

The full-back succeeded in raising Sabahn Quaye by inches to receive a huge cheer from his teammates who dared him into the act in the first place.

There have been some level of returned excitement around the Black Stars with Sports Minister Elvis Afriyie Ankrah also joining in from his Natal base.

The team will depart Maceio on Friday morning for Fortaleza where they will be facing Germany in their second Group G game on Saturday.
