Ghana's Group G opponents Portugal are sweating on the fitness of influential player Cristiano Ronaldo as the Real Madrid star failed to train with the team on Tuesday due to a knee problem.

The 29-year-old was allowed to join the Portugal squad late in the United States for their pre-World Cup training in New York after suffering a thigh problem while helping Real Madrid to win the Uefa Champions League.

However after joining the rest of Bento's squad last week, Ronaldo has not been able to train with the team due to his thigh problem and on Tuesday he failed to train after suffering a knee problem.

The current Ballon D'or winner is expected to lead the Portuguese at the World Cup and is one of poster-boys at the tournaments.
