Algeria captain Madjid Bougherra says it’s ‘hard to believe’ the current generation have surpassed the achievement of the 1982- 86 group.

The Desert Foxes ensured their performance in Brazil was no fluke with an classy display in the qualifiers.

The current generation has been cited as the best squad ever following their heroics at the world showpiece and Bougherra says they are flattered by the plaudits.

"It's hard to believe that we have done better than the generations of 82 and 86,” he said

Before each tournament, we hear about this team and its exploits. Since I got into the team, there have been comparisons. What the generation of 1982-1986 did and we managed to exceed them. It’s hard to believe.”

Algeria will open their 2015 Nations Cup campaign against South Africa before clashing with Ghana and South Africa.
