Black Queens captain Mercy Myers is confident they can secure qualification to the 2016 Olympic Games ahead of the first leg qualifier against Egypt.

The Ghana national women’s team are currently in Cairo for the first leg of the second  qualifying round and their influential skipper remains defiant about their chances.

“Through hard work and determination, we were able to qualify for the All Africa Games against Zimbabwe. We want to qualify as well to the summer Olympics in 2016 and we are determined to begin that with a very good result against Egypt this weekend,” he told SuperSports.com

“We have been camping for some time now and with the [Ghana women’s] league in session, we feel much fitter and in form now than before.

The Ghanaians are hoping to bag one of the two available ticket for Rio next year.

Ghana will face either Cameroon or Guinea Bissau once they go past Egypt in the next round of qualifiers. f
