Published on: 06 April 2017

Medeama defender Paul Aidoo returned from suspension to inspire his side to an important win over Asante Kotoko, a side they have not beaten in seven years, by hitting the back of the net twice from the spot while Gideon Waja led his WAFA side to worsen the situation of ailing AshGold by lashing them 3-0.

A close range stunner from Fatawu Mohammed which gave Hearts a comfortable win over Bechem United but Abdul Bashiru's expertly taken corner kick which veered directly into the Hearts net are obviously dominating the headlines.

WAFA manager Klaus Rasmussen emerged undoubtedly the coach of the week again for guiding his side to maul The Miners at the Red Bull Arena in Sogakope.

The system for the week is 4:4:2

Abdul Aziz Suleman (GK) - Bolga All Stars: For the second time in succession, Abdul Aziz's performance has earned him a place in the Bext XI of the week. The hardworking shot stopper made three magnificent saves in the first half, kept Bolga All Stars in the game and inspired them to a solitary win over Elmina Sharks. He kept a clean sheet alongside Razak Abalora of WAFA but Razak was virtually on a holiday.

Fatawu Mohammed - Hearts: Fatawu was exceptional against Bechem United. His runs on the flanks were admirable and his crossing, apt. He thunderbolt strike was simply brilliant and he lasted the entire duration of the game.

Abdul Bashiru - Bechem United: The former Dreams FC captain displayed a stupendous performance against Hearts yesterday in Accra. He was unstoppable in the first half but lost steam in the second half. His close competitor for the position in the Week 10 Best XI was Jacob Larweh of Tema Youth. But the brilliance of his goal earned him the role. He took a Don Bortey-like corner kick direct into the net to reduce the tally for the visitors.

4. Samuel Sarfo - Liberty Professionals: Sarfo led his charges against Aduana Stars as a real captain. He scored the only goal of the afternoon for his side to earn a point against red-hot Aduana Stars. He also emerged player of the match. His close contenders were Abdulai Razak of Bolga All Stars and Ahmed Adams of Kotoko. Razak emerged the man of the match in Tamale whole Ahmed Adams scored Kotoko's goal against Medeama. Ahmed lost while Razak won his game as well as the MVP but Sarfo won MVP and scored as well despite his team drawing.

Paul Aidoo - Medeama SC: Undoubtedly the most influential defender this week. He scored twice from the spot to hand Kotoko a painful defeat. Medeama were down in the first half but he inspired his side to take all the three points.

Gideon Waja - WAFA: Waja was as mercurial as always. He inspired his side as the skipper to lash the ailing AshGold side by scoring the last of the three goals. His brilliance and experience over the years in the WAFA midfield was boldly written in the game at the Red Bull Arena in Sogakope.

Joseph Amoah - Bechem United: Despite Bechem United losing to Hearts in Accra, Amoah was magnificent in the game. He was hugely applauded by all at the stadium including the dominant Hearts fans. He was swift, smart and intelligent on the ball. His technique was marvelous and so was his energy. He emerged the man of the match.

Majeed Ashmeru - WAFA: As partner in crime with Gideon Waja, Ashmeru emerged the man of the match in the game, tearing the AshGold midfield apart and rendering it impotent.

Nicholas Gyan - Dwarfs: Gyan increased his goal tally to 7 in ten matches. He inspired his side to secure a point at home after Tema Youth had taken the lead through Joseph Painstil. He has been very consistent in scoring for the Cape Coast side.

Stephen Sarfo - Berekum Chelsea: If Berekum Chelsea had a point at the El Wak Stadium against Inter Allies, Sarfo must be lauded. He shot the visitors ahead in the first half before Isaac Osae restored parity for the home side and that is how it ended. Sarfo did not only score, but also played well, emerging player of the match.

Thomas Abbey - Hearts: Abbey's inspirational role in Hearts' 4-2 win over Bechem United was fantastic. He scored the opening goal for the home, unsettling the Bechem side for Hearts to score thrice before the break. Despite scoring, he played very well, attacking and defending when necessary.
