Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan must pass a late fitness test to feature in todayââ¬â¢s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier match against Rwanda at Amahoro national Stadium.
The Shanghai SIPG striker is still struggling from the knee injury he picked up in Tuesdayââ¬â¢s 3-2 friendly win over the Congo in Brazzaville.
During Fridayââ¬â¢s afternoon light training session at Amahoro stadium, it was evident that the 29-year-old captain was not fully fit as he avoided contact and ice was applied to his knee at the end of the session.
Gyan is Ghanaââ¬â¢s all-time scorer with 48 goals in 90 appearances.
He believes Saturdayââ¬â¢s encounter will be tough.
ââ¬ÅIt is going to be a very interesting game because Rwanda won their first game and their confidence level is high,â⬠he told Saturday Sport.
ââ¬ÅWe have watched them and they are a very organized team. Statistically, Ghana is ahead of Rwanda but football does not talk about statistics right now. We need to just deliver,ââ¬
He scored as Ghana opening their qualifying campaign with an emphatic 7-1 mauling of Mauritius in Accra.
