Ghana coach Avram Grant is likely to be without the key trio of Christian Atsu, David Accam and Majeed Waris ahead of next month's 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

The Israeli has not received good news in the trip to Kigali to face Rwanda on 05 September.

Winger Atsu is yet to gain full fitness after a back injury picked up in pre-season has sidelined him for two weeks.

He has missed Bournemouth first two English Premier League matches against Aston Villa and Liverpool.

The on-loan player is back in training but there are doubts about his availability for this weekend's round of matches.

Accam has been frequenting the treatment room at Major League Soccer side Chicago Fire with a recurrent injury.

Striker Waris, who joined FC Lorient last month, is set for a three-week spell on the sidelines after undergoing surgery on his left hand.

“Let’s just hope they will be able to recover. These are two key players, especially Atsu. He is a key player of the team. From my checks, its not too serious so let’s hope they are able to recover to join us soon,” Afriyie told Accra based Starr FM.

Grant is expected to name his squad for the qualifier before the close of the week.
