Black Stars assistant coach Maxwell Konadu will inspect the quality of the Accra stadium pitch before the FA decides on the venue for next month’s African Cup of Nations qualifier against Mauritius.
Konadu will inspect the facility on Wednesday before the Ghana FA firms up plans to play the 2017 opening qualifier against The Dodos.
The Ghana FA has been in discussions with the country’s sports authorities over the venue for the match in the last couple of days.
The Accra and Kumasi stadia have been mooted after the Ghana FA was directed to cut cost of the national team in the wake of the economic crisis crippling the West African country.
The adopted Tamale stadium is out of the hook at the moment with Kumasi unlikely to host the game due to the hostile reception accorded the team in the wake of the country’s wrecked World Cup campaign.,
However, GHANAsoccernet.com can reveal that a seal of approval from Maxwell Konadu will see the game being played in the capital after Wednesay’s inspection.
The Accra stadium is considered a hostile ground for the Black Stars which led to the decision to play the home matches of the 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign in the country’s second largest city, Kumasi.
Kumasi fans have been hailed for the way and manner they support the national team with players openly declaring their preference to play in front of enthusiastic and vociferous fans.
But there others who feel the FA has treated Accra fans unfairly by denying them the chance to see the Black Stars play at the Accra sports stadium in over two years.
